Delete your account
You can close your Vela account at any time. Here is what happens, and how to ask.
What deleting does
- Gifts nobody has accepted yet are cancelled, and the holds on your card are released. You are not charged for them.
- Gifts already accepted are still delivered. We finish closing your account after the last one arrives.
- Your people, their dates, your reminders and your wishlist are deleted, and so is your sign-in.
- Past gifts stay as records for our accounts and tax, with your name and email taken off them.
- A message you wrote with a gift is not part of your account, so it stays with that gift for 90 days after the gift closes, or longer if someone reported it. If you signed it with your name, your name stays in it.
- Safety records, such as a report about a gift, are kept so we can keep people safe.
- If you wrote to our support team, your message and the name and email you gave stay for up to 18 months, so we can finish helping you and look back if the same problem comes up again.
- Nothing happens for 7 days. Sign in before then and you can keep your account.
How to ask
- In the Vela app, open You, then Settings, then Delete account.
- Or sign in here with your email and come back to this page.
Cannot sign in any more? Contact support from the email address on your account and we will close it for you.
