Acceptable use
Vela is for sending a real gift to someone who would be glad to get it. These rules keep it that way. They apply to everyone with a Vela account, and to every gift and message.
Do not use Vela to
- contact or keep contacting someone who does not want to hear from you;
- send another gift to someone who declined yours or blocked you;
- harass, threaten, frighten or shame anyone, in a gift note or anywhere else;
- pretend to be someone else, or send a gift in someone else’s name without asking them;
- try to find out where someone lives, or anything else about where they are;
- pay with a card that is not yours, or test stolen card details;
- send anything hateful, sexual or violent, or anything that is against the law where you or they are;
- break, overload or get around the protections on our website and app.
What we do about it
We read gift notes for obvious abuse before a link is made, and we may hold one for a person to look at. Anyone who receives a gift can report it, and can block the sender so they can never send them another. When a rule is broken we may hold or cancel the gift, limit the account, or close it. Where someone may be in danger, we may tell the authorities.
If you receive something you did not want
You never have to accept a gift. Open the link and decline, or use Report on the same page. You can also contact us; you do not need an account.
This policy is part of our Terms.
