Vela uses a handful of cookies, and only for things you asked us to do: signing in, finishing a sign-up, or opening a gift. We do not use cookies for advertising or analytics, and no other company sets cookies through our website.

The cookies we set

• Sign-in (names starting sb-). Keeps you signed in to your Vela account on this browser. Lasts: Until you sign out, renewed while you use the site.
• vela_pending_email. Remembers which email we just sent your six-digit code to, so the next screen can check it. Lasts: 15 minutes.
• vela_pending_waitlist. Remembers which country you asked us to tell you about while you confirm your email. Lasts: 30 minutes.
• __Host-vela_recipient_session. Set only when you open a gift someone sent you, so you can accept it and add your details. Lasts: 30 minutes of inactivity, and never more than a day.

Protecting our forms

Our support form runs a check to tell people from automated abuse. It works on our own website address and is used only for that check.

Your choices

Because every cookie here is needed for the thing you are doing, there is nothing to switch on or off. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time; you will be signed out, and a gift you were in the middle of opening will ask you to open the link again.
